Modern roads and tunnel structures designed and built with Isocell precast elements

Isocell has long been at the forefront in the construction of strategic infrastructures that enhance transportation and mobility in Italy.

Our experience in this sector is rooted in high-profile projects, such as the production of precast elements for the three levels of five stations on Milan’s M4 and M5 metro lines.

Subsequently, we contributed to the Brenner Base Tunnel, the longest railway tunnel in Europe, producing precast elements in a facility specially built in Varna, known as “The City of Segments.”

Currently, we are engaged in the production of segments for the Naples-Bari High-Speed Rail line at our plant located in Alife, Caserta.

Selected Projects

2024 - Naples-Bari High-Speed Railway, Italy

For the Naples-Bari high-speed railway line, we participated in the construction of the most complex sections, supplying precast elements for viaducts and tunnels.

This line, part of the Scandinavia-Mediterranean Corridor, plays an essential role in improving communications between Northern and Southern Italy. The project will not only reduce journey times, but will also promote economic development within the regions crossed.

The precast elements have been chosen for their durability and capacity to speed up construction time.

The Brenner Base Tunnel - The City of Ashlars, Italy

The Brenner Base Tunnel, at 64 km, is the longest rail tunnel in the world, and is one of the most important projects for the European transportation network programme.

Isocell produced the lining ashlars for the three tunnels of the Mules 2-3 lot at the Hinterrigger plant. The concrete was produced with aggregates recovered entirely from the rock produced by the excavation of the tunnel, consequently reducing environmental impact.

2013 - Milan Metro M5 line, Italy - 5 stations and connections
2018 - Milan Metro M4 line, Italy - 3 stations: Gelsomini, Tolstoj, Manchester Bolivar

We contributed significantly to the construction of Milan’s M4 and M5 metro lines, two of the city’s main public transport routes.

The Metro M4 line, also known as the Blue Line, provides a link between Linate airport and the city centre, greatly improving urban connectivity. The Metro M5 line, the Lilac Line, is fully automated and connects the northern and western areas of Milan, passing through strategic points such as Garibaldi Station and San Siro.

We supplied precast elements that were crucial to the construction of tunnels and stations, guaranteeing rapid construction times and structural quality.
